Fundraising Update
Wow! It’s been a crazy few weeks, and I am finally getting back into the swing of things. Between the holidays, work, social life, self-care, I am back to focusing on blogging and updating you all again about my upcoming trip! For this blog, I wanted to focus on how my fundraising has been going.
So initially when I first got accepted into this route, seeing the number 17,700 really opened up my eye. I thought to myself that this would be impossible for me to raise! I couldn’t believe how big the number was, but after I was reassured by family, I knew that this was not impossible. I was called to this trip and money would not be stopping me.
I will be honest, during this time of fundraising I have had some discouraging moments. Just the thought of ‘how could I really raise this money?” I felt as if things were moving super slow and it felt like I was begging people to support me. This was not all what I wanted to do or wanted to feel like. I’ve never had to raise this much money before so everything has been a bit overwhelming at times.
Rewinding back to the beginning. Before I announced my first fundraiser, I had receive so much support both financially and verbally from people. This gave me hope when I doubted the situation. After my first fundraiser came to a close, I raised over $700! I still am feeling over the moon happy about this. Selling over 70 plus shirts to not only my family and friends but others I did not know as well! This fundraiser put me well over $2,000. This was a huge milestone for me. My second fundraiser, which is going on now, is Adopt a Box. People have been adopting boxes daily and others have been continuing to donate.
I also just found out super awesome news from my family to help me financially. I have officially reached my $3,000 goal and then some! I am over 17% of my way to reach my 100% goal! I am amazed and over the top blessed.
This has not been easy but fundraising has taught me and showed me a lot. One being, to be patient. The time will come so don’t rush it. Fundraising is a part of the overall experience for your trip. It’s taught me that not just one person can do it all and that this whole journey is for all of us. It has showed me how truly blessed I am to have this much support from so many people. People that I talk to all the time to people that I haven’t heard from in years.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Cor 9:7
Thank you to each and every single one of you. Those of you who have decided to take part of this amazing journey with me, thank you.
God is Good.
